Surface pre-treatment
A proper pretreatment of the metal surface is a necessary condition in order to obtain a high coating quality.
The main objectives of the pretreatment of a metal substrate, before coating, are the following:
- Removal of pollutants: mill scale, grease, cutting oil, welding waste and other foreign materials.
- Conversion of the surface to protect it from oxidation and to increase the paint adhesion.
Surface pretreatment can change according to specific requirements resulting from the end-use of painted products. It can consist of a simple cleaning operation or a "noble" pretreatment, composed of several phases. For this reason, during the design of each new plant, we devote full attention to the choice of the most suitable process, in cooperation with the most important producers of chemical products.
We offer our Customers spraying plants (steps or continuous pretreatment tunnel) and immersion plants (in tanks) for chemical treatment.
It’s very important to evaluate every single detail in order to ensure maximum efficiency of the pretreatment process: the distance between the ramps, the optimum position of the nozzles, the angle and the overlapping of spraying areas, the flow rates of the metering pumps and the mixing, the dosing systems and the automatic control, the material used for the plant construction, the optimal connecting systems, and much more.
In our projects we consider all these details ensuring, at the end of the process, an excellent adhesion of paints to surfaces, corrosion resistance, elasticity, and stability of the coating.
*** If it required, our plants may be equipped with machinery for mechanical cleaning (sandblasting, shotblasting, brushing).
To automate the pretreatment process we provide systems for the automatic control of the bath level and the dosage of chemicals. These systems allow maintaining the operating parameters stable and constant, minimizing the “human factor”.
The coating quality depends greatly on the quality of the water used during the pretreatment process. TAISS SRL offers different types water treatment plants, which can be supplied together with the painting plant or apart.
